In 1901 a Mission Room was built in Mayor's Walk, Peterborough, to cater for the spiritual needs of the part of St. John's Parish that lay to the west of the railway, and where rapid housing development meant there was a need for a church.
That building, later called the Mission Church, is now designated as St. Lukes' Church.
